As rumored earlier in the month French Top 14 club Lyon has been looking into acquiring the services of Argentine international Francisco Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro. French sources have now confirmed that the twenty-five year old Pumas tighthead prop will indeed be joining the club as a medical joker in place of the injured Wian Du Prez. With the South African requiring ankle surgery Tetaz Chaparro is to replace him at the club as a medical joker. The move will see the Argentine front-rower playing in France for a second time.
Following the completion of the ongoing Rugby Championship Argentine tighthead prop Francisco Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro is set to move to France to take up a contract as a medical joker with Lyon. The move is to see him play in Europe for a third time after he played for Stade Français from 2011-2013 and then in Wales for the Newport-Gwent Dragons last season.
The form of the La Plata prop in ther Pro 12 combined with serious injuries to Juan Figallo and Maximilano Bustos resulted in Tetaz Chaparro being called up to become Argentina's second choice tighthead prop in 2014 ahead of Matías Díaz and Juan Pablo Orlandi, players who both started Rugby Championship test matches under Santiago Phelan in 2013.
Prior to 2012 Tetaz Chaparro had been capped three times. He made his international debut against Chile in 2010 and faced Italy and France in 2012 in the June internationals which did not feature Rugby Championship players based outside of Argentina.
At Lyon Tetaz Chaparro will link up with veteran Argentine international back-rower Juan Manuel Leguizamón. The club is home to a total of eight props, including Romanian international Bogdan Balan. The arrival of tetaz Chaparro is yet to be confirmed by the club or the player but has, nonetheless been reported as such in the French media. In addition Bruno Postiglioni has been linked to a move to Perpignan.
